Off Grid Rebate
Remote Renewable Power Generation Scheme
NOTE: This scheme has been terminated. Discussions on a replacement scheme are scheduled to take place during the upcoming COAG meeting however it is unlikely that any decision on a replacement scheme will be made before early next year.
This rebate provides financial support to increase the use of renewable generation in remote parts of Australia that presently rely on fossil fuel for electricity supply. The rebate covers up to 50% of the total installed costs of renewable energy generation systems, such as solar and wind. Renewable energy components, such as solar modules or wind turbines, must make up a minimum of 30% of the total cost of the system. The Program has funding available to 30 June 2011. The RRPGP is available for locations that are not connected to the grid and where connecting to the grid would cost more than $30,000 or where the grid is more than one kilometer away. Systems must have a minimum of 450W of renewable energy capacity and must be installed at the owner's primary place of residence.
